ExcelSmile
Before beginning the treatment, which has an effect on the aesthetics (frontal part of dentition), we perform a smile analysis at our Clinic – ExcelSmile procedure.
It is performed at our Clinic (aesthetics dentistry at Exceldent) in order to document the initial situation and also to define the ultimate goal of early treatment. Obtaining a lot of information is necessary for treatment planning – especially the smile line and the exposed area around the mouth. In order to create a supplement that meet high aesthetic requirements, it is necessary to proceed with our protocol of smile analysis, taking into account all morphological aesthetic and functional parameters.
Smile analysis
The component checklist for smile analysis which is used by our specialists at Exceldent (aesthetic dentistry at Exceldent):
- symmetry – mid-line,
- length of incisors (with age we loose length – teeth clash) – during relaxation, 1-2 mm of the incisal edge should be visible from under the upper lip,
- the zenith points of teeth (should be at the same height at both sides of front teeth),
- location of contact points – too low often results in black triangles visible between teeth,
- interincisal angles – analysis of the course of incisal edge of incisors and canines,
- arranging the long axis of incisors, canines and premolars – the so called tipping angle of teeth,
- the shape on individual teeth – their emergence profile from the gums, the degree of convexity etc.,
- sex – women and men have different shape of teeth,
- age – teeth get shorter with age,
- personality, in which the shape of individual teeth is different (mild or sharper).
- lip analysis
Teeth visible when smiling are surrounded by lips. A harmonious design and lip aesthetics in relation to the teeth are very important, as it changes the presentation of our teeth. In our Clinic (aesthetic dentistry at Exceldent) we call it lip dynamics. The line in which the upper lip in the smile run may be:
- high (gummy smile)
- medium (the best picture of teeth, without visible gingiva)
- low (barely visible teeth)

If we were to elongate the teeth for example – veneers depend on their initial length and the smile line (in a light smile). In every case the understanding and acknowledgement of all the possibilities, gives essential input to the treatment and results we are able to reach – that is why the aesthetic dentistry at Exceldent offers such a detailed analysis.
We always create an individual treatment plan for every patient based on an interview and the smile analysis.
